Dr. G K Prakash is a specialist in the Department of Nephrology with 38 years of professional experience. As a nephrologist, he has specialization in general nephrology, hemodialysis, transplantation, renal biopsy, placing central lines, etc. Dr. Prakash's field of expertise includes clinical and general nephrology, with a strong focus on hemodialysis and kidney transplantation. He is skilled in performing renal biopsies and the placement of central lines. Additionally, Dr. Prakash focuses on managing hypertension, chronic kidney disease, proteinuria, and acute kidney injury. He was the President of the Nephrology Association for 4 years. His education qualifications include an MBBS from JJM Medical Coll., Davangere, 1986, and an MD in Internal and General Medicine from Bangalore Medical Coll. and Research Inst., 1991. He did a DNB in Nephrology from Apollo Hospitals Chennai in 1991 and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Medical Law and Ethics. A few of his notable contributions are addressing the high rates of missed dialysis among patients who suffered from COVID-19, which emphasized the prevalence of kidney issues among these patients. He has also participated in discussions related to kidney diseases, obesity, and rare genetic syndromes. He is a part of the American Society of Nephrology, Indian Society of Nephrology, Indian Society of Organ Transplantation, Indian Society of Peritoneal Dialysis, South Zone, Society of Nephrology, and Nephrology Association of Karnataka. Dr. G K Prakash has contributed to many articles that were published in esteemed newspapers, such as the Times of India, the Daily Guardian, the Financial Express etc.
