Dr. Ram Chidambaram is a skilled Orthopedic Surgeon practicing in Chennai. He boasts more than 32 years of clinical professional experience. He has performed an impressive number of surgeries, including 4,500 keyhole surgeries, 1,100 joint replacements, and 3,000 trauma surgeries. Dr. Ram's expertise lies in the specialized field of sports medicine, where he focuses on shoulder, elbow, wrist, and hand injuries. He completed his MBBS from the Thanjavur Medical Coll. - Dr MGR Medical Univ. in 1992. Dr. Ram Chidambaram then specialized in orthopedic procedures, earning a Diploma in Orthopedics and an MS (Orthopedics) from the Trivandrum Medical Coll., Univ. of Kerala, in 1996 and 1997, respectively. He later went to the United Kingdom and obtained an FRCS in General Surgery from the Royal Coll. of Surgeons, Glasgow 2001. In 2007, he also received a Fellowship of the Royal Coll. of Surgeons (FRCS) in Trauma and Orthopedics. He pursued specialized fellowships in shoulder, elbow, and wrist surgeries at well?recognized institutions in the UK, USA, France, Hong Kong, and Japan. With a decade-long tenure as a consultant shoulder and upper limb surgeon in the United Kingdom, Dr. Chidambaram honed his skills and expertise. His primary goal is to aid patients in regaining their pre-injury functionality, consistently delivering near-perfect results. He holds notable positions, including President of the Shoulder & Elbow Society of India (2017-2021). Dr. Chidambaram is a respected part of esteemed organizations such as AO Trauma Group, the American Association of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS), the Indian Orthopaedic Society—UK (IOS UK), the General Medical Council—UK, the British Elbow and Shoulder Society (BESS), the Indian Medical Association, the Indian Arthroscopy Society, and the Tamil Nadu Orthopaedic Association (TNOA). He received the prestigious presidential gold medal from Dr. Peter Brownson, President of BESS, in recognition of his contributions to upper limb surgery and his efforts to elevate the field within Indian orthopedics.
