Dr. Shabeer Ahmed is an experienced and highly skilled General and Laparoscopic Surgeon in South India. He has an professional experience of more than 38 years in this field. He focuses on advanced laparoscopic surgery, particularly for gastrointestinal cancer, with additional specialization in video-assisted thoracic surgery (VATS), bariatric surgery, and metabolic surgery, reflecting his passion and dedication to surgical innovation and patient care. His educational background includes an MBBS degree from Madras Univ. (1986), followed by an MS from Mysore Univ. (1989), and further surgical advanced training in the Republic of Ireland (1989-1996), culminating in the attainment of FRCS from England in 1995. Dr. Ahmed demonstrated a commitment to advancing his skills with specialized advanced training in Minimal Access Surgery under Professor Alfred Cuscheri at Nine Well Hosp., Scotland, and achieving a Master's in Minimal Access Surgery (MMAS) from Dundee Univ., Scotland. He has extensive professional experience as a consultant colorectal surgeon in Ireland and Scotland, with notable contributions to laparoscopic colorectal cancer surgeries. He established a laparoscopic center at Queen Elizabeth Hosp., Birmingham, where he performed approximately 240 laparoscopic colorectal cancer cases recognized by the ALS, leading to his appointment as a "Preceptor" to train surgeons across the UK. He is actively engaged in research, focusing on colon cancer screening, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), medical education, and clinical medical ethics, supervising numerous research projects and clinical trials in Dundee, UK.
