Dr. Somnath Mukherjee is an eminent gastroenterologist of Kolkata. He has had professional experience in the field of gastroenterology for more than 33 years. He performs upper and lower gastrointestinal diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, as well as a therapeutic ERCP. He is also an an expert in executing the following procedures: OGD, Colonoscopy with polypectomy, Variceal banding, heater probe, APC, Injection treatment for bleeding, Esophageal dilatation and stent insertion, capsule endoscopy, and CVP insertion, among others. He has routinely overseen acute takes, which include triaging admissions, handling difficulties on the surgical wards, and providing cover for the coronary area, HDU, and ITU after hours. He then obtained an MD (General Medicine) from Calcutta Univ. in 1995 and a DNB (General Medicine) in 1995. Dr. Mukherjee has Membership of the Royal Colleges Of Physicians, London, UK, since 1997. He gained further advanced training with a Young Biomedical Scientist Research Fellowship and CCST in Gastroenterology from the UK in 2008. Dr. Mukherjee has come a long way from guiding junior doctors to being a part of the Indian Society of Gastroenterology (West Bengal) and Gastrointestinal Endoscopy of India.
