About Us

Dr. Surendran R is a well?recognized Surgical Gastroenterologist with more than 32 years of dedicated professional experience. He has a wide range of professional experience treating from minor complaints such as acid reflux, bloating, and constipation to more severe illnesses such as inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), Crohn's disease, liver cirrhosis, and cancer. He is credited with pioneering successful liver transplants, the first of its kind in the government sector in India, and establishing the Cadaver Maintenance Programme, a groundbreaking initiative globally. He received several accolades for his contributions, including recognition as the Best Doctor by the Tamil Nadu Government in 2002 and a special mention accolade in 2010. He was honored with a D. Sc (Hon) degree from Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Univ.. His education background includes an MBBS from Stanley Medical Coll. & Hosp., Chennai, in 1975; an M.S. from Stanley Medical Coll. & Hosp., Chennai, in 1979; and an MCh - Surgical Gastroenterology / G.I. Surgery from Madras Medical Coll. in 1990. He is an active part of various professional organizations, including the Association of Surgeons of India, Tamil Nadu Medical Council, Asian Surgical Leaders Forum, National Academy of Medical Sciences, Indian Society of Oncology, Association of Colorectal Surgeons of India, Indian Association of SGE, Indian Chapter of Hepato-Biliary-Pancreatic Society, and International Gastro-Surgical Club.
