• Dr. Shetty completed his MBBS from Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, Karnataka in 1985. 
• Later, he specialized in various joint surgeries by earning a Diploma in Orthopedics and an MS in Orthopedics from the Kasturba Medical College, Manipal, Karnataka, in 1989 and 1990, respectively.
• He has also been trained internationally at some of the top orthopedic institutions in the world. These include joint replacement training at Wrightington Hospital (England), total hip arthroplasty training at Bangkok (Thailand), basic hip and knee arthroplasty training at the University of Dundee (UK), basic AO training at Davos (Switzerland), and basic knee arthroplasty training at the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh (UK).
• Dr. Shetty has also won awards for his contributions to orthopedics, such as the Dhanvantri Award from Bharath Bank Mumbai and the Bunts Sangha Mumbai Regional Committee Award.
